Quality Engineering Intern
May - August 2017 • Livonia, MI
What I liked
The employees are really nice and are very helpful for anything you need to help you get your job done in a not so strict way. You can buy good food for lunch for only $5 per day of purchase.
What I wish was different
Interns should be able to borrow laptops from IT.
Advice
Listen to your boss. Keep good connection with coworkers. And try to find things that you can do by yourself; Employers like it when you take initiative, but make sure you really know what you're doing so you wont accidentally mess up and make things worse for the company). Also, another thing to keep in mind to not put too much pressure on yourself is employers expect Interns to mess up from time to time. I understand if what I just was confusing to you because this stuff still confuses me at times.

Advanced Engineering Intern

What I liked
I had a great summer working at Gentherm. I was given a lot of independence/responsibility to work on a big project for the company, and got to meet a lot of the employees there! My manager(s) gave me great mentorship and I got to learn Python in my downtime when I wasn't conducting tests. I always had something to do, which I really enjoyed. They have a really great cafeteria with $5 lunches. They put a lot of effort into their internship program. Niki Baccile, in Human Resources, organized field trips, resume workshops, meetings with the executive board, and an end of the summer celebration for all the interns. They really made us feel valued and appreciated. Everyone at the company is really friendly and it's easy to reach out to people to ask for career advice!
What I wish was different
Nothing really, I had a great experience.
Advice
Don't be afraid to talk to new people from the company or other interns. Employees from every department have interesting stories to share and valuable advice.
