Student Assistant
September 2017 • San Bernardino, CA
What I liked
My employer is very flexible with my work schedule. If I am overwhelmed during finals week, they don't hesitate to give me time off.
What I wish was different
Student assistants aren't valued as much as the full-time employees.
Advice
Don't quit in the beginning! When you first start, the other student assistants will give you the garbage work. As you gain seniority, you will start getting the more interesting projects. Also, it becomes easier. There is a lot to learn, but it becomes very easy with time.

Behavioral Health Technician
September 2022 • San Bernardino, CA
What I liked
I very much enjoyed working with the kids. We get to implement learning skills and much more while having a positive impact on them. It is great experience for both learner and teacher. One of the best job opportunities out there. Would definitely recommend being a part of this team!
What I wish was different
If the center had more hours for the workers that would be helpful. Maybe time for taking notes and performing other duties before the children arrive at the learning center.
Advice
My advice would be to come in with a positive attitude and have patience with the children. It’s definitely not an easy role as a teacher but in the end it’s a fulfilling role.

Research Undergrad
June - August 2021 • San Bernardino, CA
What I liked
Really good work environment. The professors and other undergraduates that I worked with were encouraging and also passionate about our research. The work is hard, but you will be taught really well before you push forward on your own project.
What I wish was different
I worked during the pandemic and I think the experience was worse for being remote.
Advice
Don't be afraid to ask questions. No one fully understands what you're doing so ask questions and don't be afraid to be wrong.
