Brooklyn Boulders

Camp Counselor

June - August 2019 • Somerville, MA

What I liked

I enjoyed working with kids. I was given a lot of leeway in terms of what activities I could do with my groups, which allowed for a less rigid schedule that was more in tune with how kids like to learn and play.

What I wish was different

Honestly, I don't have any complaints that have to do with the structure or constraints of the job.

Advice

Listening closely to kids, like you would an adult, is a must for working with them positively.

Data Analytics Intern

June - July 2018 • Denver, CO

What I liked

Working with incredibly smart and motivated people. My direct supervisor was a wizard with data and it was great to learn from him. I also liked that I was able to talk to people all across the business and help them with their data needs. I was also able to complete impactful projects for executives, which I enjoyed.

What I wish was different

I wish that I didn't work remotely and had instead been at the headquarters in Denver because I wanted to live in a new place.

Advice

Always be careful about what insights you are giving people throughout the company when you work on a data analytics team. You make a lot of assumptions and many people don't understand data very well and can misinterpret what you are telling them.
