Digital Media Marketing Intern
Internship and Organization Description:
MetaCTF provides technical training for IT and security professionals via Capture The Flag (CTF) events. An event consists of various technical challenges that showcase a specific concept in the realm of cybersecurity. Challenges cover a range of topics, including web exploitation, binary exploitation, reverse engineering, cryptography, and forensics.
The purpose of this internship is to give students exposure to the workplace and provide a deeper understanding of digital marketing implementation as it relates to cybersecurity. MetaCTF is seeking a virtual intern to assist with the improvement and implementation of a cohesive digital media marketing strategy.
Applicants may choose to intern for 1 semester initially. Upon mutual agreement, the intern may return for the following semester or summer session. The Fall/Spring internship will require a commitment of 10 hours per week. The Summer session internship will take place over the course of 8-weeks, and will require a 20-hour commitment per week. Students interested in a career in Marketing and Communications are preferred.
Duties:
Organization:
- Work with the Business Development Manager to create a holistic digital media marketing plan and corresponding operational system for day-to-day management of all online platforms and content calendar. Current online platforms include Twitter and LinkedIn.
- Develop and/or execute an email marketing strategy and manage email marketing campaigns.
- Investigate improving our presence on platforms like Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.
- Create a plan for driving traffic to our social media platforms (e.g. increasing likes and followers, etc.)
- Investigate ways to improve our MetaCTF website and make recommendations to improve overall web presence
- Organize and manage an easy-to-access, organized central location on MetaCTF Google Drive for all photo and digital media content to be housed.
- Work with the Business Development Managerto create a training manual for future marketing/social media interns.
- Identify organizations to partner with as part of a digital marketing strategy.
- Other projects and responsibilities as assigned by Business Development Manager.
SEO:
- Conduct ongoing keyword analyses to better understand customers needs. Optimize MetaCTF’s website using SEO to ensure that customers can easily find us. Research and execute keyword and tagging strategies for social media.
A/B testing:
- Writing and testing different email templates to see which has the highest response rate.
- Comparing different services on our website or mentioned in our outbound emails.
Content:
- Create marketing content such as blog posts, social media posts, and source customer testimonials to attract new clients and keep existing customers engaged.
- Write email and newsletter copy and manage email marketing campaigns.
- Helping with content generation and maintenance for the website.
Qualifications:
- Interest in the mission of MetaCTF
- Interest and background in digital media marketing and communications
- Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Self-starter; takes initiative to plan and meet deadlines ahead of schedule
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
Schedule: The internship hours will be completed virtually based on the intern’s availability and schedule. Interns and supervisors/mentors will set a mutually agreeable schedule of 10 hours per week for the academic year (fall and spring semesters) and 20 hours per week for the summer session during regular business hours Monday thru Friday. Working in larger blocks of time, such as 2 or 3 consecutive hours, is preferable.
