Internship Accelerator – 8 Week – Content writing and membership community engagement for two of the company's signature services

This internship is part of the Hoos Internship Accelerator and the position is funded by UVA. As part of this program, the UVA Career Center has planned a professional development series to support you during your experience. Students participating in the internships are required to engage in a 3-part professional development series that includes a pre-internship orientation, mid-summer networking reception, and a post-internship professional development workshop. Additionally, students will be required to participate in a pre and post assessment. Funding information is included below: 

  • Internship: 8 weeks (funded at $2000 to support living expenses) *We estimate the projects will typically run ~20-25 hours/week
  • Internship: 4 weeks (funded at $1000 to support living expenses) *We estimate the projects will typically run ~20-25 hours/week

Students who qualify for need-based financial aid from student financial services are eligible for additional funding. To receive these funds students must accept a Hoos Accelerator internship offer. Funds are limited.  

  • Supplemental Need-Based Financial Aid: 8-week experience (funded at $2000 to support living expenses)  
  • Supplemental Need-Based Financial Aid: 4-week experience (funded at $1000 to support living expenses)  

Students who qualify for need-based financial aid may submit their request for supplemental funded using this form. If you are qualified for additional need-based financial aid and you accept an offer from a company participating in the Hoos Internship Accelerator, you will receive supplemental funding based on the duration of your internship. Please note that only UVA funded internships are eligible, and funds are limited.  

Important: Students are eligible to apply to up to 10 internships in the pool and are only permitted to participate in one experience during the Summer 2021.  

Students will be notified of their interview status no later than Thursday, April 22nd. Interviews will be conducted between April 26th – May 6th. Offer letters will be sent to students no later than Wed, May 12th – students should respond to offers by Monday, May 17th.

BTTT supports mid career professionals in career transitions and goal setting and productivity skills development. During the pandemic, BTTT launched two signature programs. One program is a new annual retreat goal setting retreat called The Genius Retreat. BTTT wants to build from the retreat success by nurturing existing retreat customers and attracting new leads for future retreats. The intern will develop e-newsletter and social media content for past attendees and prospects.

The second program was the relaunch of our flagship career discovery program, Options for Success. This online job search program has served thousands of clients on our platform and via licensing. BTTT is in the process of refreshing content in our online community to encourage member engagement in the course and to foster a vibrant member community. The intern will be part of a team to create evergreen learning and marketing content for Options for Success community members, including newsletters, success story profiles, and case studies.


Key responsibilities:
- Review program content to familiarize yourself with Options for Success and The Genius Retreat.
- Research and present best practices for managing and maintaining engagement in online communities. Prepare an implementation plan to promote community engagement in the online community for our signature online program, Options for Success.
- Interview existing program members to gather demographic information and program feedback. Report findings to company leadership team.
- Create an editorial calendar for social posts and e-newsletters to build awareness of and engagement in Options for Success and The Genius Retreat.
- Write content for promotional materials including social media platforms, email campaigns, media kit, and e-newsletters.
- Conduct research on national events, podcasts and publications to pitch promotion of services (Options for Success career discovery program and The Genius Retreat).
- Gain exposure to a remote start up environment and liaise with business professionals working in the organization.


Qualifications:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Some experience with copywriting, editing, blogging or similar.
- Social media content creation and digital marketing skills, especially in Facebook and LinkedIn.
- Experience with Canva helpful, but not required.
- Must be well organized, motivated, and detail-oriented.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work in a team setting and have the ability to work independently when projects are due.
- Demonstrate initiative, curiosity and creativity.
- Major is open.
